Sorting Objects Kindergarten: Big and Small Jars
Learning to organize information is a critical math skill. Our Sorting Objects Kindergarten worksheet introduces this concept in the simplest way possible: by looking at size.
Why Start with Sorting Objects? Before children can count complex data, they must learn to group items. This activity focuses on Sorting by One Attribute (Size), allowing the child to ignore color or shape and focus only on “Big” vs. “Small.”
How to Use This Worksheet:
- Identify: Point to the two glass jars. Read the labels “BIG” and “SMALL.”
- Cut: Have your child cut out the mixed buttons at the bottom of the page.
- Sort: Ask, “Is this button big or small?” and paste it into the correct jar.
This hands-on cut and paste method strengthens fine motor skills while teaching early data classification.
