Celebrate Chinese New Year with a free printable red envelope template for kids. This printable PDF includes colorful envelope designs that can be printed, cut, folded and used as a simple classroom or home craft. Red envelopes, often called hongbao, are commonly associated with Lunar New Year celebrations and make an engaging way to introduce children to holiday traditions through a hands-on activity.
What’s Included in This Chinese New Year Envelope Template?
This printable set includes multiple red envelope designs with festive colors, lanterns and decorative Chinese New Year elements. The templates are suitable for preschool, kindergarten and elementary-age students. Children can choose a design, cut around the template, fold the marked sections and create their own envelope.
Some designs in this collection were originally created with a Year of the Snake theme, while others can be used as general Chinese New Year crafts. This makes the pack useful for both seasonal classroom activities and cultural-learning projects.
How to Use the Printable Red Envelopes
Print the PDF on regular paper for an easy classroom activity, or use slightly heavier paper if you want a sturdier envelope. Students can color or decorate the templates before cutting them out. After folding and assembling the envelope, children can add a note, drawing or pretend gift inside.
Teachers can use this activity during a Lunar New Year lesson, art center or cultural studies unit. Parents can also use the templates for an easy at-home craft.
